Video: PA Secure at UBC talks about climate and disaster risk preparedness

PA Secure coordinator at the CBSS Secretariat, adviser Andriy Martynenko, contributed to the webinar UBC TALKS about climate and disaster risk preparedness with an overview of how PA Secure helps advancing local preparedness and climate resilience across the Baltic Sea Region. He underlined three points:
• keep climate adaptation moving via a local preparedness/all-hazards lens aligned with the EU Preparedness Union Strategy;
• support municipalities with knowledge and funding, using shared regional tools (e.g., CASCADE toolbox, ClimaLoc adaptation handbook) and inclusive approaches (involve more youth in DRR);
• scale international cooperation with local involvement (UBC Safe Cities Commission as a permanent member of the PA Secure Steering Group) .

He noted recent macro-regional efforts that injected new resources into CCA and DRR and stressed future-oriented risk assessments, cross-sectoral coordination, citizen 72-hour self-sufficiency, regular exercises, and practical plans (mass evacuation, shelters) – all areas where PA Secure can help connecting cities to peers, expertise, and projects.
