The second Baltic Sea Youth Camp (BSYC) was organised online on 12-13 June 2020. This virtual camp was held within the Baltic Sea Youth Platform, a platform for young people, initiated by young visionaries in the Baltic Sea Region. The BSYC gathered young people from the Baltic Sea Region to explore friendship, culture and politics through workshops, small seminars and social activities.
PA Secure’s contribution to the Camp focused on building a common societal security culture in the Baltic Sea Region. Participants of the workshop contributed to active discussions on what a common societal security culture means in the BSR, perceptions of safety and main security threats in the region. The workshop also included a short lecture on transnational cooperation, given by Katie Goldie-Ryder, Project Coordinator at the CBSS Secretariat.
During the workshop participants had the opportunity to simulate the real work of developing project ideas, that could be submitted to the CBSS Project Support Facility. As a result, the participants improved their understanding of transnational cooperation in the Baltic Sea Region. Most importantly, despite their differences, the participants demonstrated a willingness to cooperate and work together, to tackle common challenges.
