Dear Friends,

The PA Secure team at the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) Secretariat presents the first issue of the Newsletter in 2020. We would like to share some news with you on important developments in the EUSBSR Policy Secure Area (co-coordinated by the CBSS Secretariat and the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, MSB). This newsletter also provides a broader overview of key events (meetings, conferences, seminars and exercises), projects and developments within the fields of civil protection and law enforcement, regardless of the institutional affiliation of the actors involved.

We do know that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, many of our readers are very busy, being part of their country’s response efforts. That is why we tried to make this issue as short and to the point as possible.
We also know about the emerging “teleconference fatigue” that many of us, working in the international cooperation field, are experiencing. Countries closed due to quarantine measures might seem to be getting back to the old ways of isolation when everyone was for themselves. Do not let that mislead you – international cooperation is alive and needed even more in critical times like this. We might “suffer” through some more months of teleconferencing but we, as a region, will come out stronger and more interlinked than before. Because cooperation is the future.

Hopeful to see many of you in person soon!

Stay Safe and Secure,
PA Secure Team
