On 18 January 2023 PA Secure held an interactive meeting, dedicated to Exchange of Experts Programme of EU Civil Protection Mechanism. Representative from the EOE team explained to the participants how the programme works now and participated in the discussion on how it can be adapted to the need of the Baltic Sea Region. Summary of the meeting is below:
Update February 2023: the meeting resulted in a decision to write a joint EUSBSR/EUSDR letter to EU DG ECHO with a request to add macro-regional format to already existing Exchange of Experts Programme for the next funding period. This was the first joint attempt to provide constructive input for EU funding mechanisms within the Policy Area. The initiative was positively received by DG-ECHO and at the moment of this report, PA Secure is still awaiting the decision.
PA Secure “interactive” meetings are additional to the regular PA Secure Steering Group Meetings, to facilitate the everyday work within international cooperation for all Steering Group members through moderated exchange of issues, experiences, and solutions. This format allows for more impromptu and non-formalised discussions – an aspect of interaction which is often missed in other more official gatherings.
