CASCADE Project: Transnational Policy Dialogue
09:00 -11:002019.10.15The first transnational policy dialogue of the CASCADE project will be held during the XV UBC General Conference in Kaunas, Lithuania, on 15 October 2019. The session: “Local perspectives for solving climate change related security risks – joining forces to effectively work with Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation” will be held 9.30 – 11.00.
Description of the session:
This session offers an opportunity to contribute to solving one of the most urgent challenges today and in the future – the rapidly evolving security risks related to climate change. During the session the participants will discuss the results and analysis of two reports: a mapping of the level of commitment and implementation of the UN Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and a mapping of the climate risk assessment legislation and practices – both focusing specifically on the countries in the Baltic Sea Region. These two reports provide the base for the discussions and will be distributed to all participants beforehand. The objective of the session is to collect the input from the UBC stakeholders regarding challenges and needs related to disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation, with the focus on the local level implementation. Participants are also encouraged to come with proposals for how the Covenant of Mayors should be used to facilitate the transfer of knowledge on climate risks assessment to and between cities. The session is part of the CASCADE project “Community Safety Action for Climate Adaptation and Development”, funded by EC DG ECHO. The participants will have the opportunity to directly influence the work process in the project, feeding into the final product which will be a methodology for risk assessments on the local level, taking current and future climate change risks specifically into account.

European Forum on Integration of Migrants and Refugees
All day2019.10.24-2019.10.25The European Forum on Integration of Migrants and Refugees in Hamburg on 24 and 25 October 2019. The event is organised by PA Education in cooperation with the Land of Hamburg. The objective is to support institutions and organisations in their efforts to facilitate the integration of refugees and migrants into education, labour market and society. We offer a market place where you can exchange experiences and learn about innovative concepts. This is also the start for a platform where stakeholders jointly can develop new methods and policies across Europe in the framework of the so-called macroregional strategies.
The Forum will be held in collaboration with the Working Group on Migration and Integration of the Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference (BSPC). This creates an excellent opportunity for dialogue between practitioners and parliamentarians.
In total the Forum will gather over 100 participants, cross-sectorial, cross-borders representing
ministries, agencies, regions, municipalities, business and civil society organisations. All involved in integration of migrants. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in thematic workshops, discuss the needs and gaps and exchange good practice. - 3131.October.Thursday
